DWJD: Do What
Jesus Does
~ By Fran Briggs
Are you still seeing the 15 year old question, What would Jesus do (WWJD)?
Me, too.
The fact is, no one has ever accurately answered this question with
authority. Until now. Get ready to be inspired by the definitive
answer to, WWJD? Ready? Here it is: WWJD? = DWJD.
DWJD = Do what Jesus does.
For more than a decade and a half, millions of individuals have worn
everything from shoe strings to diamond rings displaying the
letters, WWJD. Although this question created (and continues to
create) an incredible sense of awareness for both Christians and
Non-Christians, alike, it gives little or no reference to the
answer. So, what about the answer? Well, it's less complex than you
think. It lies within an even more important set of letters: DWJD --
Do what Jesus does.
Do what Jesus does; not, Do what Jesus Did. You see, "Do what Jesus
did," implies that Jesus is done with his doing. Nothing could be
further from the Truth. Jesus is very much alive! The Omnipotent, is
very much present. So should be the tense that we speak of him.
Nobody says, "Jesus loved you," because, Jesus loves you! As such,
"Do What Jesus Does," accurately answers the question, WWJD? And,
with Divine challenge! It is written:
"I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I
have been doing..." - Jesus of Nazareth (John 14:12)
Now, if you don't know what Jesus does, let these dynamic principles
be your guiding compass. They're so powerful, they're simple. Simply
acknowledge Christ as your Lord and Savior and follow in His steps.
Jesus:
-Provides comfort and gives rest to the heavy burden.
"Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will
give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am
meek...For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." (Matthew
11:28-30)
-Consistently seeks the counsel of God for His strength and wisdom.
-Guides you to the written Word.
A Theologian once asked Jesus, "What must I do to inherit eternal
life?" Jesus responded, "What is written in the Law?" (Luke
10:25-26). What a brilliant answer!
Do what Jesus does. Do what is written. Embrace, comfort, teach,
love and serve others. Few things compare with the joy of knowing
that you are making a positive impact in the lives of others. And,
this is exactly what Jesus continues to do, today. Be encouraged and
endeavor to do what Jesus does. Because that which is with Jesus,
will never be, was.
